Fashion is a cultural pillar, it drives desire and change, it platforms creativity and innovation, it carves identity and politics and, if none of that persuades you, it’s goddamn fun - just ask Jeremy Strong’s bucket hat.

Who needs Elon Musk when we have Jeremy Strong crying for attention? Hurrah for the Golden Globes red carpet. Hurrah for fashion!

Looking back on the last twelve months, you could focus on the economic downturn, the crisis in creativity, the retail paralysis, the sidelining of sustainability and the Ozempic driven return of thin. Or you could see green shoots for a new kind of industry. I see augurs in the pin box. And these are the signs:

Katy Perry Rented!

Yes she did. From my shop, as well. Katy was in Ibiza shooting her video and stopped by Agora, Six Senses Ibiza, for a browse. There she came across Jenny in Ibiland’s silver metallic costume pieces. Jenny makes these for the cabaret shows in the island’s super clubs, and we have an edited collection we rent out to clients. Katy spotted this dress and had to have it. We wouldn’t sell it to her so she rented it, shot the video and returned it in mint condition the next day.

Thank you, Katy, for showing that even global megastars are down with the rent.

The Collapse of Corruptive Luxury Merchandising

You might not think this is good news but it is.
