The Shein Monster is Coming
Fast fashion is now a morality issue. Are the markets and lawmakers listening?
Take a look at the screenshot below. Looks like the homepage of a casino, doesn’t it? In one small space there are 11 discounts offered, 5 calls to action resulting in money off, and a ticking clock offering you 20 minutes to make a purchase decision that will result in huge savings. Spend just a few seconds with it, and you’ll find it hugely anxiety making. It is designed to trigger action, whether you want to or not. There’s little emphasis on product, but that’s the point. Shein, the fastest growing fashion brand in the world, wants you to buy, and it doesn’t really care what that is.
